MOTHER EARTH'S REVENGE -- American Horse Band
(music and lyrics by George Garcia)

Going down the highways and the byways
In this beat up car of mine.
Looking for an answer,
Hoping that I'll find it just in time.

Looking out on fields of grain divided by a highway lane,
My God, it' all out of context here.
And no one seems to lend an ear.
And everyone's pretending that it's fine.

We've taken more from Mother Earth than we can ever give.
We play our little progress game and then pretend we live.
I wonder if we'll be alive in fifty years or so.
When Mother Nature takes revenge and finally says, 'No more'.

Highways cluttered up with junk,
Parking lots and city dumps.
It's shameful how our waters are polluted.
And our heritage diluted in cement.

The only ones who really can care and
Protect this wasted land are Indians,
But they look at us like we're all tramps.
And put us into prison camps to starve.

Our earth is slowly dying, it fills my eyes with tears.
To see this precious gift of God's die and disappear.
I wonder if we'll be alive in fifty years or so.
When Mother Nature takes revenge and finally says, 'No more'.

You think I'm nuts, but just get down and
Press your ear tightly to the ground and listen.
Things are looking pretty sad.
And Mother Nature's twice as mad each day.

And now I'm getting near my home.
I'm thinking that I'll never roam again now.
And I'll watch an eagle fly above me and
Think how much I'd love to be like him.

I'd like to think that man is smart and can avoid his fate.
That he can learn to love the earth before it gets too late.
I wonder if we'll be alive in fifty years or so.
When Mother Nature takes revenge and finally says, 'NO MORE'.
