Dream history

The interpretations of dreams can be sited around 3000B.C and were documented on clay tablets. For centuries, we have communicated to the world with our dreams. They are found to be many things. Some thing dreams are fascinating, while others fear them. Dreams can sometimes have a strong connection and will leave us feeling different.

They can allow our normal, every day fears to get the best of us, while; they can make us wish harder and harder for those in the dreams. People in most societies are unable to distinguish some dreams from reality. There dreams seem so real and many cultures believe that the dream world is just an addition to reality. Dreams are considered more powerful than reality and the power is given to dreams because they can seriously affect a person. A person may dream their own death and within a short period die. Many cultures believe that our dreams affect our reality directly. The dream could be a memory or a premonition.

In the Greek/Roman era, dreams were often seen as messages from gods. Temples were built because of a dream and it was believed that those who slept in the temples would be told cures to their sickness in a dream. Kings and leaders took their people's lives in their own hands based on the dream they had. They thought that a god was telling them that their next step should be and how to lead their people to victory.

However, many of the leaders took their people to graves. Rather it was not a message from god, or they had interpreted the dream wrong, their dreams have a direct effect on hundreds of people.

Egyptian priests were considered the dream interpreters. They would record your dreams in their writing and then they would tell you what they thought of your dream or future. People who had vibrant dreams were considered to be blessed by the gods and were considered among the privileged.

Those who had the power to interpret dreams were seen as divine. They were seen as those whom gods praised highly of and were given their divine power. This is because dreams meant so much for the time period. Many would fight during the day and rest, hoping that a dream would tell them their next move.

Dreams are so powerful; they have even been part of religion. In fact, the Bible has hundreds of dreams written within the book. Most of the visuals that the Bible speaks of are dreams that God has visited. The Bible is based on these visuals and the dreams have formed into a powerful religion. Without dreams, we may not even have religion.
Today, dreams have changed. Most are considered fantasies that are not relevant to life and not many people think about their lives in reference to the dream. Today, dreams are just silly pictures, however, many still believe the dream holds the future.
