GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING MISSION GRANT PROPOSALS

 

WHO CAN SUBMIT A GRANT?

  • GRANTS MAY BE SUBMITTED BY:

a)       Any LWML Society or Zone of the CNH LWML

b)       Any LWML member of the CNH LWML

c)       CNH LCMS Mission Executives

d)       Any  LCMS recognized service agency (RSO)

 

WHAT TO SUBMIT:         

  • INFORMATION SHEET:

a)       Must be signed by Zone President and Zone Counselor or District, Synod or RSO mission executive

b)       Contact information (Name, address, phone, e-mail) of individual in charge of the grant (grant administrator)

c)       Name of payee (individual organization) and address with contact information

 

  • COVER LETTER:  Limit to ONE PAGE and INCLUDE the following

a)        Summary background regarding the need

b)        Reason funds are requested

c)        Amount of funds requested with budget-proposal may be returned if budget not complete.

d)        Additional sources of funding

e)        Synopsis for publication (limit to 50 words or less)

f)         Provide assurance that the grant will continue after the LWML funds are exhausted

 

  • RESOLUTION:   IMPERATIVE- Refer to sample resolution included with these guidelines

Limit to ONE PAGE and INCLUDE the following:

a)         Description of grant

b)        Reason funds are requested (needed)

c)         Amount of funds requested

 

WHEN TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL:

                Only grants  POSTMARKED ON OR BEFORE SEPTEMBER 30 in odd numbered years will be considered for the following  biennial convention in April of an even numbered year.

                (Grants that do not meet the deadline will be returned to the requestor.)

 

WHERE TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL:

 

SUBMIT SIX (6) COPIES TO THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR GOSPEL OUTREACH

a)        See CNH LWML website at www.cnhlwml.org  for current VP of Gospel Outreach.

b)        Include self-addressed postcard (or e-mail address) for verification of receipt of proposal (contact Vice President for Gospel Outreach if verification is not received within reasonable time).

c)        Proposals will be reviewed by : 1. Gospel Outreach Committee,  2.  CNH LWML President  3. CNH LCMS Mission  Executive  4.  CNH LWML Board of Directors   (Executive Officers  & Zone Presidents). ( Amount of grant may be increased or decreased )

 

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS:

  • IN ORDER TO QUALIFY AS A CNH LWML GRANT:

a)        The grant shall be under the jurisdiction of the LCMS, an LCMS congregation, or an LCMS Recognized Service Organization

b)        The proposal must be a single submission such that proposal is not concurrently submitted with other LWML districts for adoption consideration

c)        The funds should not be a partial or complete substitute for Synodical  or District budgeted items

d)        Assurance shall be given that the grant will continue to be productive after the LWML funds are exhausted

e)        Must have other on-going means of support

 

  • PRIORITY SHALL BE GIVEN TO GRANTS THAT:

a)        Are mission in emphasis  bringing Christ to the unchurched

b)        Are current and ready for implementation

c)        Are well documented

 

REASONS PROPOSED GRANTS MAY BE ELIMINATED:

a)         Proposal submitted after the deadline

b)        It is included in projections of Synodical  budget

c)         It is submitted to other LWML districts for funding consideration

d)        It is a recent recipient of an LWML grant

e)         It is self-supporting or can be supported at a local congregational level

f)          Plans are not sufficiently developed

g)        Required documentation is not complete (Gospel Outreach Committee will make every effort to obtain complete documentation before submitting to Board of Directors for ballot consideration.)

 

 

 

SAMPLE RESOULTION

 

WHEREAS                            St.  John Lutheran Church in anywhere, CNH District, has                                                                                          ministered to the homeless in our community the past 3 years, and

 

WHEREAS                            We desire to expand our existing program to include a Woman’s Residence

                                                Shelter, and the congregation has pledged $35,000 toward this endeavor

                                                with a projected value of $42,500

 

THEREFORE                         Be it resolved that the CNH LWML ASSEMBLED IN THE Convention in

                                                Visalia in 1999, adopt as a Mission Grant, the allocation of $7,500 to be used

                                                to complete the funding of initial start-up costs for St. John Women’s Shelter.
